Baby Food Blues

Ever wondered what to feed your baby? I DID!!!! I went on a search mission to find out what exactly these little hungry, growing bundles eat! I realised at 6 months that Daniella was not satisfied with her usual milk anymore, and started experimenting with various food types and textures. Now at ten months, she is eating out of my plate!!! How did I do it?..........Let me give you a couple of easy (and fast, remember im a working mom!!!) recipes!

RICE CEREAL

When starting off with solids, it is important to follow baby's lead!! I started Daniella on simple Rice Cereal, (not the type that has milk added) I used two - three teaspoons of cereal, and mixed it with Daniella's formula (she was on Isomill). Add a little brown sugar to help the stomach process!

APPLE AND RICE CINNAMON VANILLA BAKE        YOU  HAVE TO TRY THIS!!!!

2 X apple (cored and peeled)
rice cooked (approx 1.5 cups cooked rice)
vanilla pod, diced or 1 ml vanilla essence
pinch of cinnamon
120ml of baby's milk

-          Cut the apple and peach in slices and place in an oven proof dish
-          Cover the bottom of the dish with water
-          Sprinkle the apple with a pinch of cinnamon
-          Bake in oven for 45 min at 180ºC until super soft and juicy!
-          Place vanilla pod or essence in baby's milk and microwave for approx one minute!
-          Strain the milk to remove the vanilla pod
-          Cool the apple, milk and cooked rice
-          Place in the blender, and SERVE!!!

-          Cool the apple and peach slices and chuck them in the blender!
-          Can be frozen for up to a month!

CARROTS AND POTATOS

1 X carrot (peeled)
1 X potato (peeled)
chicken stock
parsley

-          Cut the carrot and potato into small pieces.
-          Place in pot and cover with water
-          Boil until tender (approx. 25 min)
-          Drain the water and cool the carrot and potato
-          Place cooled carrot and potato in blender and add chicken stock (approx. 150 ml)
-          Add a little parsley and blend away!
-          Adjust the texture by adding more or less chicken stock!
-          Freeze for up to a month!

BANANA DINNER

1 X banana
Baby’s usual porridge
Pinch of brown sugar or honey

-          Cut the in pieced and place in blender (add approx. 50ml of baby’s milk)
